How do I get my baby to fall asleep and stay asleep in his crib for a nap?

My 5 month old falls asleep on his own (crying) in 20 minutes at night, and sleeps ok (wakes up once or twice to nurse). But during the day he won’t fall asleep in his crib!!! He’ll cry and cry and not go to sleep. If I put him down asleep, he wakes up and cries. I can’t get him to nap, so I’m pretty tired myself and I can’t get any of my chores done. Have you been though this situation? How did you teach your baby to nap in his crib???
I tried the shshsh-pat thing, it doesn’t work. As soon as I put him down, he cries really hard. Putting him down drowsy but awake doesn’t work either! He cries and cries until you pick him up….he can stay there forever crying, even if I’m next to him reassuring him with words and patting.
He unfortunately doesn’t sleep in the bouncer, car, floor….only in my arms!!!
If I let him cry a bit, he’ll cry for as long as you leave him there, it doesn’t matter if it’s an hour, and he won’t fall asleep!
What week did you set up baby’s crib/nursery? Did you feel so relieved and excited?

I do! I set things up this weekend (I was 32 and 1/2 weeks) and I feel sooooo happy and relieved to have that done! Now all I need is my little one!
How can I help my 1 week old baby get used to sleeping in his crib or bassinet?

I swaddle him, have a bear that plays womb sounds, and keep the room dark at night, but as soon as I put him down he knows. I can’t keep sleeping with him in my arms or beside me! Any advice would be helpful. This is my first baby so, I am still learning.
When would you start preparing for the baby as far as putting up the bassinet & crib etc?

My 1st born was 3 weeks early & I dont even remember when we set up the crib etc. Just curious when others put their bassinet in their room to prepare for the baby?! Ya never know HOW early they could arrive! 
I am only 6 mos. right now…but am anxious to get ready!!

My son is 7 months old. He was sleeping 5-6 hours during the night but recently he started waking up hungry so i had to nurse him and i was taking him in the bed with us and i was falling asleep and didnt move him back to his crib.He got used to sleep with me. My husband is sleeping on the sofa with weeks. I am scared about that situation. Do you have any advices for me?

i’m looking for a crib for my soon to be born baby. I remember the one my family used waaaaaaaay back in the day had sliding rails that went up and down to make getting the baby in and out easier. I’ve been looking for something similar, but all the cribs i’ve found so far have fixed sides…
Do they make cribs with sliding rails anymore, or are those no longer manufactured?
